Cheddleton & Surrounding Area

Cheddleton is a village situated in the beautiful Churnet Valley. Cheddleton and the surrounding areas are very well served with over 600 miles of footpaths.

Most are sign-posted and the local Tourist Information Center stocks a wide range of walking guides.

Cheddleton Canal

There are walks to suit all tastes from easy strolls along the Cheddleton canal to daylong hikes across the countryside.

Cheddleton has three good Pubs all within walking distance of the cottage, where both lunchtime and evening meals are served.

The Churnet Valley Railway Museum takes passengers down the valley from Cheddleton to Consall Forge.

Cheddleton Flint Mill
Next to the canal is Cheddleton Flintmill. Where visitors can see the huge water wheel in action inside the mill and have a look around the original old Millers Cottage.

The Potteries

The Potteries (Stoke-on-Trent) is a unique City made up of six separate towns. Pick up a bargain - buy directly from the maker - small family businesses or multi-million pound companies - Wedgwood. The market town of Leek is just 3 miles from Cheddleton.

Market Day is Wednesday and it's a good place to shop. A refreshing change from the modern shopping mall.
